Three independent and trusted sources have said that Hun Sen has recruited his trusted 3-star general from Region No. 2, Chhoeur Sovantha ឈឿ

to assassinate Sam Rainsy.
Choeur Sovantha is reportedly the same general who gained Hun Sen's trust in carrying out the coup in 1997
